Overall Goals:
1. Place virioplankton activity, abundance, composition and diversity in the context of the annual biological cycle of the Chesapeake Bay.

2. Isolate and bring into culture viruses infection key photoautotrophic host populations.

3. Examine virus communities within sediments and eventually address the role of these populations in natural transductions.
